Whalley Announces Veteran Leadership Team

Concord—House Republican Leader Michael Whalley of Alton today announced a 12-member Leadership Team that will bring more than 130 years of legislative experience to the New Hampshire House during the coming session.  In addition, the former Deputy Speaker has appointed a Senior Policy Advisor from each of the 20 House standing committees (see attached list).

“We are extremely fortunate to have a number of former committee chairmen and vice chairmen joining the Republican team,” said Whalley. “We were able to retain a core of experienced and knowledgeable Republicans who will bring a positive influence to the legislative process and help articulate the issues of our party,” added Whalley.

Former House Majority Leader Davie Hess of Hooksett, who is beginning his eighth term in the NH House, will serve as the Deputy Republican Leader.  Appointed by Rep. Whalley as Republican Whips are Stephen Stepanek of Amherst, the former Vice-Chair of Commerce, and former House Majority Whip Pamela Price of Nashua.  Former Speaker of the House Gene Chandler of Bartlett will join the leadership team as the Republican Policy Leader. 

In addition, Rep. Whalley has appointed three Assistant Republican Leaders: former Deputy Speaker Ken Weyler of Kingston, Sherm Packard of Londonderry, former Chair of Transportation; and Maureen Mooney, a former Clerk for the Judiciary Committee.

Serving as Assistant Republican Whips will be former Republican Caucus Whip Sandra Reeves of Manchester; Mary Griffin of Windham , former Deputy Republican Majority Whip; Jim MacKay of Concord , who most recently served as Vice-Chair of Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs; and former Vice-Chair of Ways & Means, Kevin Camm of East Hampstead .
