CONCORD, NH – House Education Funding Committee Chairman Rick Ladd (R-Haverhill) released the following statement after House Republicans passed SB 586, requiring school districts to publish a school administrative unit audit report after the end of the fiscal year.
“Schools have the critical duty to be responsible with every single taxpayer dollar,” said Ladd. “Considering that Claremont’s egregious fiscal mismanagement led to a $5 million budgetary black hole and several concerning transactions being quietly swept under the rug, the fact that their most recent audit comes from the year 2022 is completely unacceptable.”
Ladd concluded, “We need accountability, transparency, and standards. It’s no surprise that tax and spend Democrats opposed such common sense, fiscally responsible accountability.”
