CONCORD, NH – House Executive Departments and Administration Chair Erica Layon (R-Derry) released the following statement after the House and Senate signed the Committee of Conference report on HB 609, relative to the general court’s authority over the sale, purchase, ownership, use, possession, transportation, licensing, permitting, taxation, and other matter pertaining to firearms, stun guns, Tasers, pepper spray devices, knives and other self-defense tools.
“At its heart, HB 609 is about ensuring that the natural rights of our citizens are not trampled by out-of-control, red-tape bureaucrats and runaway local regulations. This bill ensures that no arbitrary, bureaucrat-stamped rule is foisted upon the people unless the elected representatives of the people give them the consent to act.” She concluded, “This monumental legislation is the most pro-second amendment action that New Hampshire has taken since Constitutional Carry.”
