REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP
ABOUT THE MAJORITY LEADER’S JOB:
- The Majority Leader has the authority to appoint member of the leadership team with consultation of the Speaker.
- The Majority Leader has the authority to speak on behalf of the Republican caucus and to take positions which he/she believes are in the best interest of the caucus.
- The Majority Leader crafts and supports the House Republican Agenda.
- The Majority Leader is available to testify on legislation on behalf of the majority office.
ABOUT THE DEPUTY MAJORITY LEADER’S JOB:
- The Deputy Majority Leader supports the Majority Leader by coordinating legislative priorities, working with committee chairs, and strategizing policymaking.
- The Deputy Majority Leader serves as a liaison between leadership and members, ensuring unity and representing the Majority Leader when needed.
Act on behalf of the leader with his/her knowledge and approval. - The Deputy Majority Leader serves as a representative for the Leadership team, under the direction of the Majority Leader
- The Deputy Majority Leader reviews all pending legislation and make recommendations to the leader as to what position should be taken, if any.
- The Deputy Majority Leader reviews all issues brought forth by the assistants and keep the leader informed of any that need to be acted upon.
- The Deputy Majority Leader is available to testify on legislation on behalf of the majority office.
ABOUT THE MAJORITY WHIP’S JOB:
- The Majority Whip rallies support for the party’s legislative initiatives by monitoring vote counts and communicating leadership goals.
- The Majority Whip addresses concerns within the caucus and ensures alignment with the conservative agenda.
- The Majority Whip is responsible for working with members of the caucus to encourage them to support positions taken by leadership, providing them with necessary documentation to back up the position, and make informed votes.
- The Majority Whip Communicates policy positions to the assistant whips and make sure that they perform their duties effectively and in a timely manner.
- The Majority Whip sees to it that the whipping counts are reported to the majority office as requested.
- The Majority Whip is responsible for making recommended changes in personnel among the assistant whips and committee whips who are responsible to the Majority Whip.
- The Majority Whip is responsible for contacting any members who have not responded to their committee whips.
- The Majority Whip is responsible for coordinating, among the assistant whips, all calls which are to be made to caucus members who have either reported a vote which is not in agreement with the leader’s position or who have not responded.
ABOUT THE DEPUTY MAJORITY WHIP’S JOB:
- The Deputy Majority Floor Leader assists in the management of the whipping process.
- The Deputy Majority Whip assumes the duties of the whip when he/she is unavailable.
- The Deputy Majority Whip performs duties assigned by the Majority Whip.
ABOUT THE MAJORITY FLOOR LEADER’S JOB:
- The Majority Floor Leader oversees debate, procedural efficiency, and compliance with parliamentary rules during sessions.
- The Majority Floor Leader works with the Majority Leader, Deputy & Assistant Leaders to ensure leadership’s position is known on the House floor
- The Majority Floor Leader identifies Republican members who have not responded to whipping, or are undecided to ensure we continue the whipping process on the House floor.
- The Majority Floor Leader manages the position visual signaling operation on the House floor, to ensure that when unexpected motions or when the position of leadership needs to be communicated visually, Republican members can receive cues.
- The Majority Floor Leader works with Majority Leader and other members of leadership to identify opportunities for parliamentary inquiries and motions to advance the interests of the majority.
- The Majority Floor Leader is available to testify on legislation on behalf of the majority office.
ABOUT THE DEPUTY MAJORITY FLOOR LEADER’S JOB:
- The Deputy Majority Floor Leader assists in the management of the House Floor operations
- The Deputy Majority Floor Leader assumes the duties of the Majority Floor Leader when he/she is unavailable.
- The Deputy Majority Floor Leader performs duties assigned by the Majority Floor Leader
ABOUT THE ASSISTANT MAJORITY LEADERS’ JOBS
- The Assistant Majority leaders assist the Majority Leader and Deputy in managing legislative operations and advancing the conservative agenda.
- The Assistant Majority Leaders build relationships within the caucus and develops innovative strategies to strengthen legislative efforts.
- The Assistant Majority Leaders act on behalf of the leader with his/her knowledge and approval.
- The Assistant Majority Leaders serve as a representative for the Leadership team, under the direction of the Majority Leader
- The Assistant Majority Leaders review all pending legislation and make recommendations to the leader as to what position should be taken, if any
- The Assistant Majority Leaders are available to testify on legislation on behalf of the majority office.
ABOUT THE ASSISTANT MAJORITY WHIPS’ JOBS
- Supports the Majority Whip in securing votes and building consensus for party initiatives. Ensures members are informed on key issues and helps address concerns to advance Republican priorities.
- Work with individual committee whips to ensure outreach to caucus members is occurring, is effective, and delivering results.
- Offer themselves as a resource and mentor to freshman members of the committees they work with.
- Perform duties assigned by the Majority Whip.
