Everyone Loves a Tax Cut (Except House Democrats)

CONCORD, NH- House Majority Leader Jason Osborne (R-Auburn), Deputy House Majority Leader Joe Sweeney (R-Salem) and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman John Janigian (R-Salem) released the following statement after House Republicans passed HB 155, slashing the Business Enterprise Tax.

“House Republicans will always fight for lower taxes in order to protect the New Hampshire Advantage. Every Democrat voting against lowering the Business Enterprise Tax shows how desperate they are to tax you, your business, and your freedom,” Majority Leader Osborne said. “House Republicans will always support New Hampshire businesses, which are the backbone of our economy.”

“As the prime sponsor of HB 155, I am proud to stand with House Republicans in delivering real tax relief to New Hampshire businesses,” said Deputy Leader Sweeney. “The Business Enterprise Tax punishes growth, investment, and job creation. Cutting it strengthens our economy and protects the New Hampshire Advantage. For years we have heard Democrats claim that families and businesses cannot be trusted with their own money. HB 155 proves them wrong. When we let people keep more of what they earn, our economy grows, our revenues remain strong, and opportunity expands. This is exactly the kind of common sense, pro-growth policy voters sent us here to enact.”

“Democrats have tried to raise your taxes by nearly $1 billion in the past year. That money belongs in the pockets of the hardworking men and women that power our economy, not in the coffers of the government. Democrats love to claim that cutting taxes will send us into a financial crisis, when in fact, the state has flourished whenever our citizens get a tax cut,” Chairman Janigian said.”Republicans are all about growing our economy and supporting local businesses. We will never go the way of Massachusetts, and I look forward to welcoming more of their businesses to New Hampshire.”
