House Majority Stands Up for Law Enforcement, Parental Rights, and Election Integrity

Concord, NH – The New Hampshire House Republican Majority stood united this week, voting to ITL a slate of deeply flawed Democrat bills that would have castigated serious and lasting harm for Granite Staters.

House Majority Leader Jason Osborne (R-Auburn) praised the caucus’ unity and resolve. “Democrats tried to handcuff our police, micromanage parents and families, and open cracks in our election system. We shut it down, decisively. Granite Staters deserve strength and conviction from their elected leaders.”

Among the defeated measures was HB1570-FN, a misguided attempt to obstruct federal immigration cooperation by subjecting 287(g) agreements to municipal interference. Republicans also stopped HB1716-FN, a costly $750,000 bureaucratic expansion designed to sabotage Education Freedom Accounts through unnecessary state oversight. Conservatives also soundly defeated HB1678-FN, a bill to digitize the voter registration system that would effectively open the door to voter fraud.

House Deputy Majority Leader Joe Sweeney (R-Salem) added, “Democrats will try anything, anything, to claw back educational choice, weaken immigration enforcement, and blur the lines of secure elections. We will not allow it. We are always watching out for the little guy, for every hardworking Granite Stater who deserves safety, opportunity, and confidence in our elections.”
