CONCORD, NH – State Representative Sam Farrington (R-Rochester) and House Criminal Justice Chairman Terry Roy (R-Deerfield) released the following statement after the New Hampshire House passed HB 1793-FN, the Protecting College Students Act.
“Our Constitutional rights are not up for negotiation. When seconds count, citizens should not be disarmed and forced to wait for help that is minutes away. In those moments, the difference between a victim and a survivor is the right to self-defense.” said Farrington. “We have seen senseless tragedies because ‘Gun-Free zones’ are not a force field; they are an invitation for lawless and violent criminals to wreak havoc.”
Chairman Roy added, “I thank my colleagues in the House for passing this critical public safety measure and urge my colleagues in the Senate to act swiftly so that we can send this legislation to Governor Ayotte.”
