State Representative Ross Berry (R-Weare), prime sponsor of HB592, released the following statement after Republican led bail fixes took effect this past Sunday.
“After years of New Hampshire’s failed bail experiment, the nightmare is over,” said Berry. “Today, Granite States are safer than they were a week ago thanks to Republican led efforts to ensure that we keep dangerous offenders off the streets.”
Berry pointed out Democrat Leadership’s opposition to the changes, stating that, “Democrat Leadership tried everything they could to stop us from succeeding. From voting against the bill in the Criminal Justice committee to trying to table the bill on the House Floor, House Democrats’ actions display how deeply unserious they are when it comes to public safety and keeping your family out of harm’s way.”
He concluded, “I thank all of my fellow Republicans for their hard work delivering on this long-awaited policy. I know we will all sleep easier tonight knowing that dangerous criminals are being kept behind bars where they belong.”
