CONCORD, NH– House Election Law Chairman Ross Berry (R-Weare) released the following statement after he introduced the Property Tax Protection Act, an act creating a process for consideration of a biennial local property tax limitation.
“Granite Staters are clear: property taxes are out of control. The Property Tax Protection Act is a step in the right direction that protects our citizens from being taxed out of their homes at an alarming rate,” Chairman Berry said.
“Deliberations on the details are continuing in this ongoing process,” Berry added. “Today’s constructive feedback will be accounted for so we can deliver a product that works for all Granite Staters.”
He concluded, “this amendment strongly protects local control by putting voters in the driver’s seat to allow them the choice of whether their municipality, school district, or county lives under a tax cap.”
