Speaker Jasper’s statement on the arrest of Rep. Tasker

The following statement was released today by House Speaker Shawn Jasper in response to the arrest of Rep. Kyle Tasker

“Representative Tasker is facing serious charges that, if true, are beyond the bounds of human decency. It is clear that given the seriousness of these allegations, Rep. Tasker will be unable to represent his constituents effectively, and should resign immediately.

This morning I issued a letter immediately removing him from his assignment on the House Children and Family Law committee. While only Rep. Tasker can make the decision to resign from his seat, the House does have the ability to remove him.

As elected officials, we should hold ourselves to the highest standard of ethics and decency, and our constituents expect that from us. These allegations put an unfortunate stain on the good work we try and do here and what we have accomplished this term. The people of New Hampshire have a right to be concerned about the alleged actions of this individual, but they should be confident that the vast majority of elected officials are here in Concord working in their best interests.”
