CONCORD, NH – House Deputy Majority Leader Joe Sweeney (R-Salem) released the following statement after receiving information about the University System of New Hampshire from a Right-to-Know request.
“The University System of New Hampshire’s recent response to my Right-to-Know request revealed that more than 2,450 admission denial letters were sent to New Hampshire Residents over the past four years — even as hundreds of international students are admitted each year.
However, during my review of public documents, I discovered that USNH institutions actively encourage applications from undocumented and DACA students — a fact not addressed in their original response. As a result, I have filed a follow-up Right-to-Know request demanding full transparency on how many non-citizen students are currently enrolled.
New Hampshire taxpayers deserve to know who their tax dollars are supporting. Our public universities must prioritize New Hampshire students — not international applicants or undocumented illegal aliens. I will keep fighting to ensure accountability and fairness for our families and ensure that Granite Staters are put first.”
