CONCORD, NH – House Deputy Majority Leader Joe Sweeney (R-Salem) released the following statement in response to a Concord Monitor story on refugees who were imported into New Hampshire.
“The Concord Monitor story is a case study in why President Trump was right to shut down refugee resettlement. We are told the program is about helping families in need, but instead we see a 27 year old healthy male coming here alone while his own mother and family remain behind overseas. Does that sound like a serious refugee program, or does it sound like a broken system being gamed?”
“Granite Staters deserve answers. Why are we importing individuals who proudly call themselves ‘freedom fighting revolutionaries’ while New Hampshire families struggle with rising costs and unsafe streets? Why are we putting taxpayer resources into radical imports instead of protecting our own people?”
“The truth is simple: America should not be a dumping ground for people who see our country as their next battleground. If you want to start a revolution, do it in your homeland. New Hampshire House Republicans expect people to respect our laws, our culture, and our way of life in New Hampshire and if they can’t do that, they can see themselves out.”
