The last time Democrats controlled the New Hampshire House, Senate and Governor’s Office, they raised over 100 taxes and fees. They passed a reckless budget that drained $80 million from the state’s Rainy Day Fund, wiping out nearly 90% of our reserve funds. The state barely had enough money to keep the government running for just two days and succeeding Republicans were left with an $850 million deficit to fill. It has been over 10 years since New Hampshire had to live under Democrat control, but history shows how devastating their policies are for Granite Staters.
Contrast this with Republican leadership. Thanks to our efforts, the Interest and Dividends income tax is being phased out, and we are committed to fighting for lower property taxes while blocking any attempts by Democrats to raise taxes. Republicans even went a step further, sponsoring a bill to require a two-thirds majority to pass any tax increases, but Democrats unanimously voted against it. Looking forward, my Republican colleagues and I are committed to blocking Democrats’ attempts to raise your taxes. We will fight to lower your property taxes and ensure you keep more of your hard-earned money.
Actions speak louder than words. While Democrats may claim to care about affordability, their track record shows they’re more interested in raiding your hard-earned savings. If they regain control of the State House, they’ll come for your wallet again. On November 5th, vote Republican to protect New Hampshire families from the Democrats’ tax hikes.
