Chandler Receives International Legislator of the Year Award

CONCORD, NH

—At a recent meeting the NH chapter of Safari Club International (NHSCI) honored state Rep. Gene Chandler (R-Bartlett), with the 2011 NH Legislator of the Year award.

The award recognizes a legislator who has made significant legislative accomplishments on behalf of sportsmen and sportswomen.

“We are pleased to recognize Rep. Gene Chandler of Bartlett for the NHSCI Legislator of the Year 2011. We thank Rep. Chandler for his solid track record of supporting sportsmen’s issues throughout his dedicated service to New Hampshire,” said Dale Carruth, President of NHSCI.

Rep Chandler is an avid hunter and fisherman and has been active in sportsmen’s issues in the legislature and played a prominent role in the preservation of hunting and fishing rights on 171,000 acres of North Country. He is former chairman of the Mt. Washington Valley Ski Educational Foundation and a member of the New Hampshire Wildlife Federation, Pro-Gun New Hampshire, and Gun Owners of New Hampshire.

Rep. Chandler is serving his 13th term in the NH House and represents Carroll County District 1, which includes Bartlett, Chatham, Conway, Hale’s Location, Hart’s Location and Jackson. He is a former Speaker of the House (2001-2004) and currently serves as the House Republican Policy Leader.
