Concord, NH- House Majority Leader Jason Osborne (R-Auburn) released the following statement after the Fiscal Committee voted 6-4 to pass a request from Governor Sununu to spend $850,000 to deploy up to 15 National Guard members to the southern border.

“Nero fiddled while Rome burned, likewise Democrats remain passive as our nation is overrun by criminals, terrorists, and drugs.”

“President Biden and the Democrats could easily close our borders, but they are neglecting their basic duty to protect our nation. All 50 states have felt the effects of this gross inaction. Because of this, we must do our part to combat the threats that threaten the lives of Granite Staters and Americans everyday.”

“Earlier this year, the legislature passed HB229, Defend the Guard legislation. Protecting our borders is one of the reasons the National Guard was created. This is a legitimate request for the use of the Guard, and the Fiscal Committee was correct to pass the request. I thank those brave men and women who are willing to serve and protect our interests here at home.”
