On the heels of Claremont School District’s financial ineptitude causing a $5 million deficit, Concord School District has announced its own $5 million shortfall. In response to this news, House Majority Leader Jason Osborne (R-Auburn) released the following statement.
“From Claremont to Concord, clearly fiscally irresponsible Public School Administrators are the fad. Now, local taxpayers are feeling the burn of runaway school spending,” said Osborne.
“While Claremont begs the state for more money, Concord is turning its fire on its own taxpayers to plug their $5 million shortfall. When financial surprises arise, the solution is to cut expenses, not use the taxpayers as your personal ATM. This is exactly why we need to pass the Property Tax Relief Act and put a leash on runaway school spending. It is clear that we need to bring greater accountability to stop these school districts from writing checks they cannot cash.”
“Whether you’re the superintendent of Claremont, the Business Administrator of Concord, or a deposed Nigerian prince, a government bailout is not coming to save you.”
