CONCORD, NH – House Finance Division III Chair Maureen Mooney (R-Merrimack) and Representative Bill Boyd (R-Merrimack) released the following statement after House Democrats near unanimously opposed HB 155, a bill that directs $9 million to support Granite State nursing homes.
Chairman Maureen Mooney (R-Merrimack):
“New Hampshire’s nursing home residents and their families deserved better than this. These facilities are already operating on razor-thin margins, and every dollar matters when it comes to the quality of care our seniors receive. I’m disappointed that House Democrats voted to block $9 million in nursing home funding, making a choice to leave out our most vulnerable neighbors. I’m proud of House Republicans for standing up for them.”
Rep. Bill Boyd (R-Merrimack):
We had a real, fiscally responsible opportunity to help nursing homes keep their doors open and provide quality care to New Hampshire seniors, all paid for without raising a single cent of taxes. Instead of joining us, nearly every single Democrat voted no. November is coming and the people of New Hampshire will remember who showed up to care for our seniors and who didn’t.”
