House Republicans Pass the Taxpayer Protection Act

CONCORD, NH- House Election Law Chairman Ross Berry (R-Weare)  and House Majority Leader Jason Osborne (R-Auburn) released the following statement after the House supported the motion to adopt the Committee of Conference Report on HB1300, the Taxpayer Protection Act. The revised version of the Taxpayer Protection Act will place a question directly on the ballot asking voters if they wish to limit their property taxes in the 2026 and 2028 November Elections.

House Election Law Chairman Ross Berry (R-Weare):

“There is nothing more local than local voters making decisions for themselves,” Chairman Berry said. “Property taxes are out of control. The Taxpayer Protection Act gives every Granite Stater the simple choice of whether or not to cap their property taxes at the rate of inflation for the following two years,” he continued.

House Majority Leader Jason Osborne (R-Auburn):

“From young families trying to raise kids, to people looking to retire, the Taxpayer Protection Act will provide property tax relief for every Granite Stater. For too long, tax-and-spend local bureaucrats have driven your property taxes through the roof. Enough is enough. The Taxpayer Protection Act will give people across New Hampshire the power to avoid being taxed out of their homes.”
