Concord, NH – House Majority Leader Jason Osborne (R-Auburn) and Deputy House Majority Leader Joe Sweeney (R-Salem) released the following statement after State Representative Timothy Horrigan’s horrible comments in the House Criminal Justice committee earlier today. “Rep. Horrigan’s claim that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are worse than Salvadorian and Venezuelan gangs is outrageous, nonsensical, and deeply reckless. ICE agents are sworn federal law-enforcement officers who put their lives on the line to protect American citizens and uphold the rule of law. Comparing them to literal criminal gangs with long, documented histories of violence, intimidation, and murder is not just offensive, it is a gross distortion of reality.” Osborne said.
Rep. Sweeney continued by stating that, “This kind of rhetoric undermines public safety, disrespects law enforcement, and sends a dangerous message at a time when clarity and responsibility matter. Words have consequences. Demonizing federal agents while minimizing the brutality of transnational gangs is indefensible, and Rep. Horrigan should retract his remarks and apologize to the men and women who serve honorably in law enforcement. Rep. Horrigan is free to go to Venezuela or any Democrat run city across the country and hang out with MS-13 to see test his theory out as to who is worse – I’ll be in New Hampshire hanging out with the brave men and women securing our homeland working for ICE.”
