Representative Katy Peternel Announces Withdrawal of HB 476

Representative Katy Peternel (R-Wolfeboro) today announced her decision to withdraw House Bill 476, relative to restrictions on elective abortion, citing a critical flaw in the legislation and a lack of unified support from New Hampshire’s pro-life organizations.

“After careful review, it has become clear that there is a flaw in the bill that prevents us from moving forward in a logical, reasonable, or obvious way,” said Rep. Peternel. “Without consensus among the pro-life organizations across New Hampshire, this bill does not have the broad support it needs to advance successfully out of committee,” said Peternel.

“The withdrawal of HB 476 allows the legislature to refocus its efforts on other legislation that addresses the needs and concerns of New Hampshire residents. I want to thank my colleagues and the many individuals who have contributed to this conversation,” added Peternel.
