House Democrats Vote to Raise Ratepayer Costs by Nearly $500 Million

CONCORD, NH – House Science, Technology, and Energy committee chairman Michael Vose (R-Epping) released the following statement after House Democrats took several votes that would cost ratepayers almost $500 million.

“House Democrats’ votes today showed that they have little regard for New Hampshire ratepayers. At a time of sky-high electric costs, I can’t think of a worse thing to do than increase their costs by almost $500 million. They are completely out-of-touch with the realities facing Granite State families,” said Vose. “This is no surprise when you see how they view ratepayers. Just a few weeks ago a leading Democrat talking about electric rebates said the money ‘does not belong to the ratepayer’. Even today, it shows they think other people do not need their money. These are families trying to make ends meet, not the government’s piggy bank.”

“While House Democrats vote to increase energy costs by hundreds of millions of dollars, Republicans will stand up for ratepayers. We will continue to advocate for relief and oppose irresponsible cost increases so Granite Staters can keep more of their hard-earned money.”
