House Republicans Continue to Protect Ratepayers

Concord, NH- House Majority Leader Jason Osborne (R-Auburn) released the following statement after the House voted inexpedient to legislate on HB631, relative to electric utility smart meter gateway devices, on a vote of 192-180.

“Once again, Republicans in the House are standing up to protect the ratepayers of New Hampshire. Considering our state’s largest electric provider does not even provide support for smart meter gateway devices, the requirement of utilities to provide them would be at the expense of Granite Staters. In the words of Vice-Chairman Doug Thomas (R-Londonderry), ‘it would be like buying a computer with no software support.’”

“In 2023 House Democrats voted to increase Granite Staters’ energy costs by hundreds of millions of dollars. This is yet another example of House Democrats voting against the best interests of the state’s ratepayers.”
