Concord, NH- Rep. Daryl Abbas (R-Salem) released the following statement after the New Hampshire House passed HB1598, legalizing the possession and use of cannabis, on a vote of 169-156.
“After the operation and start-up costs are repaid to the state under this bill, 50 percent of the remaining revenue is earmarked to offset the Statewide Education Property Tax. This will result in direct property tax relief for Granite Staters.”
“Rather than send revenue directly into the general fund, where it could be used to fund pet projects and grow government, Republicans want to use this new policy opportunity to have a direct downward effect on property taxes. Lowering property taxes was an issue Republicans campaigned on and we are proving to our constituents that we can effect change rather than just talk about it.”
