Majority Leader Comments on Parental Bill of Rights

House Majority Leader Jason Osborne (R-Auburn) released the following statement after the House struck down HB1431, establishing the parental bill of rights, on a vote of 171-176.

“It is unfortunate that the members of the House were swayed by scare tactics and false information. Opponents of this bill have said that this bill would give parents the final word on their child’s health, education, and welfare. I fail to see how this is dangerous. That is the basic job of being a parent. Educators and parents should be partners in a child’s education, and parents should not be misled or left in the dark regarding their children’s activities. Today every Democrat in the House chose to support systems and secrets over parents.”
