Commerce Democrats Support Exceptions for Animal Cruelty

Concord, NH- Member of House Commerce Committee Rep. Paul Terry (R-Alton) released the following statement after the committee amended and passed SB202, prohibiting the sale of cosmetic products tested on animals, on a party-line vote of 10-9.

“SB202 was presented to the committee as a bill that would only prohibit the sale of cosmetic products that were tested on animals. It is the belief of Republicans that animal cruelty is animal cruelty. It is unfathomable that House Democrats believe that animal cruelty is ok for some industries, but not for others. The amendment we passed today prohibits the sale of any product that has been tested on animals. I hope that by the time this bill gets to the House floor Democrats will have a change of heart and support animals that cannot advocate for themselves.”
