Deputy Majority Leader Fred Doucette (R-Salem) released the following statement after WMUR’s recent report of undocumented migrants illegally crossing into New Hampshire from Canada.
“For those of you who believe New Hampshire is immune to the border crisis in the south, I invite you to take a look at this recent report from WMUR. No border is off limits to those who seek to enter our country illegally, including the Granite State’s northern border.”
“We must do everything in our power to protect our borders, which is why our recently passed state budget includes funding for our northern border patrol. Unfortunately House Democrats are on record referring to the northern border patrol as ‘unchecked government authority, especially for imaginary border crises.’ Today I ask House Democrats, do you still believe this is an imaginary border crisis?”
“Over the past few years, we have seen legislation to give non-citizens drivers’ licenses, make them eligible for federal Real IDs, and allow them to vote in our elections. We cannot afford to obstruct the enforcement of our immigration laws and undermine the immigration process for those who do it correctly – it is unfair and it is dangerous.”
